For 11 years Go-Givers, the Citizenship Foundation’s flagship programme for primary schools, has supported schools across the UK by providing topical resources to support SMSC, PSHE and Citizenship.
Today marks the launch of a vibrant, stimulating and responsive new website containing lessons, activities and on line tools to help teachers prepare children for life in the modern world by developing children’s Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural learning (SMSC) including their understanding of fundamental British Values.
The more complex our society becomes the more our children need support to make sense of what it means to be an individual in a richly varied society. Go-Givers deals with issues of real concern to children. It aims to develop empathy and critical thinking to help children develop understanding towards others, raise aspiration and empower them to become proactive citizens.
The new website introduces new Go-Givers characters who feature in stories that bring sensitive social and moral issues to life. They demonstrate how we might restore compassion for one another through co-operation and sharing.
New weekly picture stimulus modules offer material for analysis and debate. The site also now includes training modules for teachers that will help them introduce deep and sometimes controversial topics in a lively, balanced and appropriate way, without condescension or dilution of the issues.
